Our Code Central Vision
There is an increasing need for computer literacy among school-age children. We recognize this and wish to do our part in bringing it to the front lines of our education.
In 2018, we created a place where today’s youth can go to learn, grow, have fun, and be around others doing the same thing, with the guidance of a knowledgeable and friendly instructor. We want the learning to be valuable, engaging, and meaningful. It is in this spirit that we created Code Central.
Our Core Beliefs
Learning to code opens up a whole new world of possibility and provides a deeper level of critical and logical thinking. Success in coding requires students to challenge themselves in ways one might not expect. Students develop a deeper understanding of math and problem solving, while learning to approach moments of uncertainty with confidence instead of fear.
Our Mission is to create opportunities for youth to learn, explore, and develop valuable skills in a collaborative environment.
Our Vision is to be recognized as a premier location providing valuable learning opportunities for youth to develop tech skills.

Kids Creating Together
At Code Central, our philosophy stems from two core elements: Create an environment that provides hands-on learning, and offer a curriculum that engages student interest, curiosity, and imagination.
Inclusive Learning
At Code Central, we believe that anyone should have the opportunity to learn how to code. We recognize that everyone has their own unique way of learning, which is why we tailor our instructions to meet individual needs.

Computer Literacy
Code Central recognizes the significance of computer literacy for children and emphasize the importance of introducing them to computers early on. We aim to make computers easily accessible and provide guidance on how to use them securely. Additionally, we encourage children to learn programming skills.
Our Team
Our staff is made up of a diverse set of programmers with a wide range of coding experience, as well as backgrounds working with students of various ages. They are all very passionate about sharing their collective knowledge with those interested in starting their own programming journey.

Sam Cornelius
Director
Working with Code Central since its beginnings in 2017, Sam was of the first wave of instructors hired to bring coding to the youth. Prior to that, he worked for the department of academic success at the College of Southern Nevada.
His time at CSN provided him with many opportunities to expand his skillset as an educator in CS and took it to Code Central to take his skills even further. Sam developed a custom learning management system for Code Central within his first year and that earned him a Lead Instructor role and later Curriculum Director.
Sam continued to contribute to STEM education when he worked with the board of education to help develop the Nevada Department of Education K-12 Computer Science Standards which he then created his own curriculum that was later accredited by those same standards. His dedication to youth and education continues to drive him to lead his team to the forefront of technology, preparing kids for whatever future technology brings.
