General Questions

Code Central provides a safe, fun, and supportive environment for your kids to learn how to code. Our students work through our customized, self-paced curriculum designed to teach them a variety of programming concepts in multiple programming languages. Through learning to code, they also develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, along with many other valuable skills. Our supportive and knowledgeable instructors guide and encourage the students as they work through the concepts, and apply them to create their own projects.

Instruction is offered in our Las Vegas-area centers, and online with a live instructor.

The age range is 7-17. We will consider younger students, based on an assessment.

We hire the best instructors in our market. Most are Computer Science majors or have already graduated from a 4 year university. You can learn more about our staff by visiting our team page here.

Sessions are 60 minutes and are offered on a weekly basis. Scheduling is flexible, so you can choose the day/time that works best for you (based on availability). You can schedule sessions online or via phone or text.

Curriculum Questions

We provide instruction for all levels of experience. Our curriculum provides courses for all levels of interest and experience, from absolute beginners to advanced programmers.

Our customized curriculum (written in-house) is project-based and provides an opportunity for students to explore various aspects of Computer Science. Our session do not follow the traditional ‘classroom teaching environment’, instead our students to work at their own pace, and ask questions as needed. An instructor is always nearby to assist and help them to understand the concepts and material they are learning.
We teach a variety of different programming languages. We believe a diversified approach to programming provides students with many avenues of exploration, and allows each student to focus on what interests them most. For beginners, we teach the foundations of programming using Scratch, a language built specifically for kids. Scratch is a block-based coding language to get children familiar with the logic and syntax of computer code. For more intermediate coders, we use typed languages including but not limited to: Python, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. For advanced coders, we dive into the more robust programming languages such as C# and Java. This is where we introduce our students to more difficult programming concepts as their programming skills really start to flourish.

We currently teach the following programming languages:

  • Scratch
  • Python
  • HTML/CSS
  • JavaScript
  • PHP
  • MySQL
  • Lua
  • C/C++
  • C#
  • Java
Yes! We encourage parents to be as involved as possible with their child’s learning with us. Parents can login to our Portal website, where you can track your child’s progress, as well as see what upcoming assignments they will be working on. We also provide regular Student Progress Meetings where we discuss your child’s progress in detail.

Although we do not require homework, we encourage students to continue learning between their sessions. Our curriculum is created to be used both in-center and at home.

The time it takes to learn concepts and complete projects varies from student to student. Our curriculum extends from simple coding concepts, all the way through to college-level learning. Each student learns and works at a different pace. Your child’s coding experience, motivation, and learning style all affect how quickly they will work through their projects.

LIVE Virtual Learning Questions

Online classes are held via Zoom with a live Instructor. Our Virtual Learning sessions operate very similarly to our in-person classes. Your child will be working with one of our instructors and 1-2 other students. Instructors can see the students’ screen and provide guidance, supervision, insight and assistance throughout the learning session.

Our current hours are:

  • Tuesdays through Thursdays 3 PM to 7 PM
  • Saturdays 10 AM to 3 PM
  • Sundays 11 AM to 3 PM

We try our best to ensure that your child is placed with the same instructor each session. Due to scheduling and staff availability, if your usual instructor is not available, you will be placed with another of our qualified instructors.
